Deconstructed role play
What does deconstructed role play mean?
Deconstructed role play is a role play area with thousands of possibilities! It's a space with lots of boxes, tubes, crates and materials. These items offer lots of open ended opportunities for the children to develop their language, imagination and play. Enhancements that are linked to a particular theme or topic can be used as an additional teaching tool within the space which can be first introduced and modelled by an adult. If an adult is no longer in the space the children can choose to copy the ideas using the enhancements or use the items in their own imaginative way. The space will also have huge mark making opportunities which will allow the children to really bring their ideas and role play scenarios to life!
This week in Team Barnes our deconstructed area has had dinosaur nests, unicorn homes, houses for the 3 little pigs and cardboard crate monsters! It has been a very busy space with lots of creativity and teamwork.
