Getting Lit Up for Christmas
Children at Ramsgate Arts Primary already have the Christmas spirit.
They hope to be lit up this festive season in a joint project with the Arts In Ramsgate team.
Pupils have begun workshop sessions with the AIR volunteers and parents to create stylish and imaginative lanterns that will form part of a parade through the town on December 1 to herald the beginning of Christmas month.
All lanterns that are created for the parade may also be used to decorate inside RAPS and can also be taken home.
Head of School Nick Budge said: “At RAPS we enjoy working with the community on all sorts of projects. The Arts In Ramsgate parade will be a special event in the town and the workshops are an opportunity for our children to expand their artistic capabilities whilst creating structures/lanterns for the procession.
“Our Key Stage 2 children will be also having opportunities to create lanterns our Art lead teacher Karen Vost who will also be at the procession and would love to meet up with parents there. It would also be lovely to train parents to transfer this skill so we can make lanterns with the children for future events. It will be fun and an opportunity to meet new parents and be creative.”
Further workshops with AIR are planned at RAPS in the weeks leading to the parade.
