It is Week 3 of Term 6 and a brand new week too!

Learning for today:

PE: Find a safe space (Garden? Living room?) and do 20 jumping jacks, 15 squats and 15 bunny hops OR have a go at the Viking Isolation Games challenges!

M: Let’s do a quick game of Always Sometimes Never:

Everything in the 4 times table is in the 8 times table.

A negative number is larger than a positive number.

Multiples of three are odd numbers.

Now, we are going to practise our column multiplication. If a question includes decimal points or a pound sign, you must make sure to include them in your answer and keep your columns aligned! Remember, if you multiply the big number BY the smaller number and arrange it for this, you won’t get stuck or confused! Ask an adult or go online for a reminder of the steps.

E: Listen to the next chapters of Varjak Paw which I put online for you over the weekend. I hope you are enjoying this core text – Varjak Paw is one of my favourite books in Year 4 (after Krindlekrax!). You will need to get yourself to Chapter 12 at least to help with today’s task.

I am giving you a SPAG task today hidden in a descriptive task. I would like you to have a go at writing a setting description of the roads and the cars and Varjak’s view as he attempts to cross the road and stop a dog (car) in Chapter 12. But I want you to include at least 3 expanded noun phrases, 1 simile and, most importantly, 1 example of apostrophes for plural possession (Aargh!). I have attached a Powerpoint to help on this front because I know apostrophes are tricky and confusing! Think about describing the trees, the cars, the lights, the noises, the smells etc. Have a go and let me know how you get on!

RWInc: We have a new book for the week! Please find the relevant spellings and story text attached below for On Your Bike with today’s learning task.

Topic: As a part of RAPS' commitment to challenging stereotypes and tackling racism, I will be using some of our Topic sessions this term to help us to learn more about individuals from different ethnic backgrounds who have contributed to the history of this country, whilst also trying to challenge prejudice against them in order to help others.

Once you have watched the clip, there are some questions to answer and some tasks to complete which can be found in the attachment below. You do not need to do all of the tasks - you can pick what you would like to do, but please do watch the video and take the time to reflect on Seacole’s tremendous contributions in her lifetime.
