Crime and punishment!

Over the last few topic sessions we have been looking at a history of crime and punishment in Britain, from the Romans and Anglo-Saxon periods through to the Tudors and Victorian times...

Most recently, the children earned about punishment in the Victorian era and the invention of the police force by Sir Robert Peel and the 'invention' of prisons! We explored how prisoners were expected to spend the entire day in silence and would do exhausting, trivial tasks such as 'The Treadwheel' or 'The Crank'. Why not ask your child what they remember about it!
