After our non-chronological texts last week, we have again used the themes from our core text, 'Street Child' to create our own historical story. Set in a work house in Victorian London, the children haven planned and written their first drafts...
The children have utilised their understanding of the work house from the text we have been reading to help describe the settings within this dreadful building. Whether it is the large dining hall, the icy yard or the crammed dormitory, the children have tried to incorporate expanded noun phrases and a range of openers to bring their tale to life. Next week, we will be editing our writing - looking for opportunities to improve the writing further before adding it to our publishing books!
