Formal letters

For our first written task of the term, the children were asked to get into character as a police officer stationed in Norwich and create a formal letter...

After becoming separated when trying to escape the shrinking island city of Norwich - in a dystopian future - Zoe's parents are desperate for news of their daughter. A letter from the anxious, fretful parents was shown to the children, who then had to formulate a response.

Pupils were given three options to choose from: stating that there was nothing the police could do; outlining plans for an intended search operation or detailing what had been done in an ultimately unsuccessful search. Once selected, the children planned, wrote, edited and published their own letters.

Why not ask your child which option they choose, and ask them to summarise the story thus far?
