Maths Games

This week we've been focussing on doubles and near doubles. The children have enjoyed playing games to reinforce this learning. I really can't stress enough how playing board games helps with learning (even more so I think) than actual 'homework'. A simple game of snakes and ladders will do wonders for number recognition, addition, subtraction and best of all - building resilience/turn taking.
I've attached a few games you can print out at home and use if you want to, there's also a blank tens frame. The children know how to use the tens frame to work out the addition/subtraction - they just need two frames and counters if they're working with numbers to 20.
I hope they'll impress you with their mathematical knowledge; they are certainly impressing me with how engaged they are in lessons and how keen they are to learn.
