06/07/2020: Home Learning

Good morning, Team Amin!

Learning for today:

PE: Have a go at one of the new Viking Isolation Games challenges!

M: Start with a speedy recap of your 7x and 8x on Rockstars, Hit the Button, chanting etc. You might like to play Bingo!

Continuing with Oak Academy for their useful videos, quizzes and worksheet questions, we are exploring number sequences today: https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-identify-and-complete-number-sequences. This is all about being able to identify and complete number sequences (Lesson 3), which we practise at school through EM work and starters.

Oak does give you some questions to work through which are really good, and if you would like to practise more, here are some fun games to try out too:

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/ordering-and-sequencing-numbers I quite enjoyed Number Patterns.

E: Listen to the next chapters of Varjak Paw. I added some over the weekend!

Let’s continue with our story writing! What will happen next?

Things to think about:

  • What is your hero doing? What other obstacles have they come across?
  • What will they see, hear, experience? How are they feeling?
  • Have they found a way to save the day? You will need to get to a point in the story where you hero is ready!

Things to include: a bit of dialogue (with 4 steps for punctuating dialogue), 1 example of apostrophes for possession and all of your basic punctuation! Don’t forget those all-important capital letters and full stops, Team Amin.

Enjoy the writing process. Use your plan to help you track where you wanted to go with your story!

RWInc: We have a new book for the week! Please find the relevant spellings and story text attached below for A Hole in my Tooth with today’s learning task.

Topic: Another transition activity for today. I’m including a Twinkl template as it might be useful/provide some inspiration for things to include/layout, but today we are going to make a transition card/passport for our new teacher.

You might like to use paper/a double spread in your workbook or something creative to present your message. You could even create a video or Powerpoint if you wanted?

Things to think about including:

  1. What you like to do at school
  2. What you like to do at home – hobbies, after school activities etc.
  3. What you would like your teacher to know before you join them in September
  4. Your favourite subjects
  5. What things you did over lockdown – learning, helping at home, hobbies etc.
  6. What you are most nervous about? Excited? Worried etc.

Extra activities:

R: Access the class reader Powerpoint if you haven’t already and listen along and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. I have added chapters for you recently.

Spelling: Practise this week’s new spelling in time to test yourself this Friday!

Have a great Monday. Happy learning! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures!
