Day Two at PGL

TOP NEWS: Exhausted children go to sleep…

After a glorious morning of kayaking (make sure you saw our last blog), the year 6 gang spent the rest of the day exhausting any last energy, ready for a good night’s sleep and an early wake up tomorrow (6:30)! The children worked in teams to build fully functioning buggies out of wood, barrels and rope. Together, they learned different knotting techniques and were able to safely bind wooden parts together.

After this, they continued down the avenue of ‘teamwork’ and completed an orienteering task. They found it hard at first, identifying north and reading a map but soon got the hang of it. Some of our more competitive children managed to locate 15 different places on the map during a timed challenge. Very impressed.

Everybody stocked up on dinner – we don’t think we’ve ever seen such small children eat such vast amounts of food – ready for an evening activity using their orientation skills from earlier in the day. Everybody had such a fun time and created many memorable experiences.

The children were a little shocked when they found out that their breakfast slot is at 6:45am tomorrow; however this is countered by the awesome activities we’ve got lined up. They’d better eat as much breakfast as possible as they’ll certainly be needing to use their muscles tomorrow…

Keep an eye out for a blog tomorrow about the day!
