Big Festive Fun at RAPS

Little stars twinkled brightly in the Ramsgate Arts Primary nativity plays and shows.
Children from the two Reception classes performed a selection of Christmas songs and dances to a very high standard, while the Year 1 group beautifully retold the traditional nativity tale.
The Early Years group enjoyed a range of festivities, including creating Christmas trees, cardboard tube reindeers, making reindeer food and decorating baubles.
They also posted letters to Santa who replied to them, visited the in-school grotto, and enjoyed the exploits of cheeky elves who left traces of mischievous visits to classrooms.
Reception group children visited the Manor House forest school at Quex Park in Birchington where they enjoyed a delightful Christmas character trail, made decorations from tree slices, visited the farm, met Father Christmas and toasted marshmallows over the open fire.
As part of the festivities, their families were involved in making decorative wreaths.
All age groups entered into the spirit of the season with a range of activities, games, shows and musical fun, as well as tucking into tasty Christmas dinner and treats.
Years 3 and 4 took their parents on a journey through time with their 'Timewarp Christmas' performance with songs from all ages - from Deck the Halls to Step Into Christmas, the audience were wowed with festive classics.
The whole of Key Stage 2 had their chance to cheer on the goodies and boo the villains at the traditional Peter Pan panto at the Granville Theatre in Ramsgate, with the magic and mayhem caused by Peter, Dame Sally, Smee, Captain Hook and a huge dragon making the production a successful trip.
RAPS Year 6 pupils visited the Corner House community hub in Newington Road, Ramsgate, where they learnt more about how The Bible portrays the Christmas story – and they even discovered that the three kings are not mentioned but the Magi are.
At the session they wrote questions they had about Christmas, and about things they were grateful for at Christmastime. A big hit was decorating and tasting gingerbread men.
The event was finished off with a Christmas rap with pupils joining in the chorus. It was organised by the Active Christianity in Thanet Schools group.
Head of School Nick Budge said: “Our children enjoyed a packed and varied programme of events and activities in the lead up to Christmas. Our nativities, music and dancing performances, grotto, fairs and parties were enthusiastically enjoyed, as were our various trips.
“Once again, our families joined in with a lot of the events and came in to school to support creative learning. It all added up to a terrific RAPS community Christmas.”
Ramsgate Arts Primary is part of the Viking Academy Trust with its partner schools Chilton Primary in Ramsgate and Upton Juniors in Broadstairs.
