RAPS Singers Raise The Roof at the 02

Singers from Ramsgate Arts Primary joined thousands of others to form one of the world’s largest school choirs at London’s 02 arena.

After months of rehearsing the children from Key Stage 2 were part of the Young Voices project that sees schools from around the UK take part at a number of key arenas nationwide.

Special guests for this year’s series of concerts include award-winner teacher turned rapper and social media star MC Grammar, BBC Strictly Come Dancing band lead singer Tommy Blaize, and 14 year old Souparnika Nair from Britain’s Got Talent television show.

A highlight included a global online sing-along to celebrate reggae pioneer Bob Marley’s 80th birthday with performances of his classic songs including One Love and Three Little Birds.

The spectacular and uplifting event saw the RAPS team perform with exhilarating enthusiasm and passion.

Year 4 pupil Jacob shared his excitement about the event. He said: “It was amazing to sing with so many children in such a big arena. I loved every minute of it.”

Songs learnt and performed included Birdhouse in Your Soul, Brighter Days, Hairspray, Get Loud, Lean On Me, Let’s Dance, a pop medley, and Try Everything.

Assistant Head of School Hannah Dannell who co-ordinated the RAPS team said: “The event is not just about singing—it helps build confidence, encourages teamwork, and gives pupils an experience they will never forget.

“Ramsgate Arts Primary School has been participating in Young Voices for over five years, and the tradition continues to be a highlight of the school calendar.

“It is wonderful to see our pupils perform with such joy and confidence on such a big stage. I would also like to thank the staff at RAPS who give up their time to make these events possible.”

“Although the day was long with the journey to and from London, the pupils represented the school exceptionally well, showing kindness, resilience, and collaboration throughout.

“Their dedication and hard work truly paid off as they sang their hearts out in an inspiring performance that will stay with them for years to come.”

Young Voices online says: “We're the heartbeat of music for primary schools across the UK, where children and teachers unite in an electrifying choir experience.

Through our unforgettable concerts, children discover their voices, gain confidence and create lasting memories.” To find out more visit www.youngvoices.co.uk
