English writing
In our first week back, we have been reading the beginning of the classic ballad, 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes...
The beginning of the story sets the scene of a great love between the Highwayman and a landlord's daughter named Bess. Using a range of wonderful similes and metaphors (as exemplified by Noyes himself in the original text), the pupils got into character and wrote a love letter! Although initially a little reluctant, they fully engaged in the spirit of the task and produced some wonderful writing that was published as beautiful work on Friday on 'ye olde paper'!
