Team Beraet's Literacy Week

The past week at RAPS centred on our Literacy festival, which involved workshops, World Book Day and writing our own books...

Our week began with a workshop from the celebrated poet, Harry Baker, who shared some of his own poems within the whole school assembly, before encouraging the children to write their own poems in class. These could be about anything that was important to the children.

Later on in the week, we had a talk from editor-in-chief Sarah Tomczak, who shared their experiences as well as teaching pupils the art of piecing together magazine articles. In particular, the children had great fun creating headlines using puns!

On World Book Day, the children shared their favourite books with classmates on their tables, read extracts to the whole class and created their very own books! This was based on the journey of an evacuee and they will eventually go into our publishing books.
