Mock SATS Week - Team Williams

For most of the coming week, Year 6 will be undertaking a series of 'mock SATS'...

We had a talk with the year 6 pupils on Friday afternoon to outline what would be happening, but thought it was worth reiterating what was said here.

Firstly, the reasoning is two-fold. Firstly, it allows the children to see what the real ones will be like and take away some of the worry about the 'unknown'. This is the first time in the school's history we will be completing the tests with two classes, which has added an extra layer of complexity to the organising. By doing a 'mock SATS' week, we can iron out issues and ensure the children know what to expect when the real ones occur. Secondly, it identifies gaps which may need to be focussed on in the next few weeks of learning.

As always, we have tried to reassure the children that there is no reason to get worried or stressed by these tests. Yes, take them seriously. Yes, try your best. But do not lose sleep over them!

For logistical purposes, year 6 and year 5 are swapping rooms for Monday - Thursday lunchtime, so children will need to come into the main building, via the back of the school, on Monday morning.

Also, for this week, the early morning maths breakfast group will not be taking place. This only affects a handful of pupils, who should have received notification from the school office separately.

Later in the term, there will be a 'SATS awareness' presentation for parents, where the purpose and process of the real SATS tests will be explained to parents. Details to follow. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
