Home Learning Monday 23rd March

Good morning Team Gunson! Please see below for today's Home Learning.

Joe Wicks, the Body Coach, has lots of incredible free workouts designed for children. I would like you to spend some time this week having a go at a Joe Wicks 5 minute workout to get your blood pumping and your mind and body active.  https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Maths: Arithmetic Test 1. You can access the Arithmetic folder in our Year 5 folder, but I will attach a PDF today for ease. You have 30 minutes to answer as many questions as you can. Parents and carers, the answers are all attached to the file if you would like to go through it with your children after they have finished. Remember, if you are struggling on a question just mark it, leave it and move on. If you have time, you can come back to it at the end. There is no need to print the test off, just write the answers with working out in your Home Learning Journal.

English: 'May you live in Interesting times'. Well, in all my years in teaching the times we live in are something that I have never seen before. I thought that it would be quite cool to write a journal every day about your thoughts, feelings and experiences as you spend your time learning at home in a different way. What are you doing to fill your time? How is life the same or different? When we all get back together I would love to look through these journals together. Maybe, years from now, you may look back at it yourself as a reminder of when the schools had to close! Remember, this is a form of diary. The purpose is to recount the important events in your day and the audience is yourself. It will be informal in tone and written in the first person. We will try to maintain our journal entries every day. I will also set some additional writing tasks just to mix things up a bit.

Topic: Anglo Saxon religion and gods. We will spend two days this week looking at religion in Anglo Saxon Britain. I am attaching a powerpoint to help. Your task is to create a poster detailing 5 facts about Anglo Saxon pagan religion. All of the information you need is on the powerpoint, but if you can't access it then here are some key words to search for on the internet: Blodmonath, Eostromonath, Modraniht (Mother Night), Anglo Saxon Gods, Anglo Saxon religious festivals. Try to use illustrations and colour to support the text on your poster.  I suggest that you do the research today and the poster tomorrow. I would love to see some when they are complete. You can email them to me at: richard,gunson@ramsgateartsprimaryschool.co.uk

Happy learning Team Gunson :)
