Home Learning Thursday 16th April
Please see below for today's home learning.
Welcome back everyone! I hope that you all had a fantastic Easter and managed to stuff yourselves silly on chocolate. I have enjoyed seeing what some of you have been up to on our Padlet page, it has brought a smile to my face when I've been stuck indoors writing your reports. If anyone is interested the answer to the riddle from the final day of term was 'a map'. Easy when you know the answer!
I will be at school on Friday and will pick up a copy of our next class novel. Every day I will post a few pages so we can all continue to do some reading together. What is it, I hear you ask? Well, you'll just have to wait until Monday and all will be revealed.
English: For today I would like you recap the features on non-chronological reports. One of the last things we did was to begin to create a non-chronological report about Skellig. I have attached a Powerpoint and an example text showing some of the features. Have a good look over them and learn the structure and features as we will be writing a non-chronological report as part of our topic learning very soon.
Maths: As I said last term, we are going to start using the White Rose Maths website. Each day will have a lesson including a video to run over the skills, an activity sheet and an answer sheet so that you or your parents and carers can mark your learning. We will be starting with Summer Term Week 1 Day 1, where we will look at Adding Decimals Within One. Here is the link:

Topic: Our new topic this term is 'The Circle of Life'. I found it really hard to type that without singing the song from the Lion King out loud. Probably the sort of thing I'd do in the classroom so I think you've all had a very lucky escape Team Gunson. This topic is all about the life cycles of living things such as plants and animals and how they grow. The word 'cycle' refers to something that goes around and around. In Year 4 you learned about plants and animals and we will be building on that this term. Today I would like you to conduct your own personal knowledge harvest and create a mind-map for me about what you know about plants, animals and their life cycles. You may like to consider how we group different animals, any famous naturalists you may have seen on the television, life cycles and how plants reproduce. Send me any pictures to the usual email address: richard.gunson@ramsgateartsprimaryschool.co.uk
Art to Start: As the sun is shining and the flowers are starting to bloom lets fill our Padlet page and Year 5 blog with bright colourful pictures of flowers. Could you do that for me? The more the merrier.
I'm going to start to have an experiment with adding some videos from me to the blog soon when my old, technologically challenged brain can get round it. So watch this space!
