Scientists study life cycles in order to understand more about animals’ growth at different stages. Some life cycles are more complex than others, with living things sometimes making changes as they grow.

The changes in insects from an immature create to an adult insect are known as metamorphosis. This isn't the same for all animals. Some animals begin life in an egg and some animals are live born.
Birds have a life cycle that goes form Adult bird to egg to embryo to chick to adult bird, then the cycle begins again.
