Shakespeare Week

We have loved learning about the Bard this week! It has been amazing to see how engaged Year 1 have been about Shakespeare and his work and how quickly they have accessed the plays and grasped the tricky language! We discovered that  his work has been translated into 100 different languages and Shakespeare added nearly 3000 words to the English language! We had great fun learning about A Midsummer Night's Dream and watched a full length performance as well as reading an abridged version together in class. Then we all worked hard together to create the flowers and garlands for our display which focusses on the group wedding at the end of this well-loved play before writing some fantastic descriptions of the wedding for our display! Finally we learnt some Shakespearean drama techniques with Mr Williams and Mrs Elliott and even had a go at acting out the wedding scene ourselves Well done everyone!
