It’s so good to see you again! I hope you all had a wonderful EASTER!!
Well done to everyone who sent me fantastic pictures of your Easter competition eggs and bonnets.
They were all AMAZING! I’m sure Mr Budge will be announcing the winners soon.
I have some fun things lined up for you to try at home over the next few weeks - including learning about Hinduism for Religious Education and also we will be starting our new topic...all about ANIMALS!

Challenge yourself? Think of your own 2 digit numbers to double using the method doubling the tens and ones.

We have been really lucky to have such wonderful weather during our Easter holiday! Spring has really sprung!
I’d like you to feel inspired by all the busy activity going on around you in the natural world – there is a lot happening at this time of year!
We are going to have a go at writing a Spring poem!
You can use ideas from things you have done in the holiday (such as planting seeds, gardening, going to the park), or have a look at the poems I have attached (Spring poems) for ideas or even this video might give you some inspiration:

I’d like you to use your SENSES (smell, sight, hearing, taste, touch) to describe things that we experience in Spring.
Poems don’t have to rhyme, but you can if you want to
Remember a poem is NOT a story! They are written in VERSES and you need to start a new line every time you talk about something new and each new line needs a capital letter.
If you would like to you can illustrate your poem too! I'd love to see them so send me pictures or upload them onto our Brilliant Wall.

We are going to practise spelling and reading sounds which have different spelling but they sound the same! This can be tricky but we can use some handy rules to help us remember which spelling to use…
Today’s sounds are ay “may I play” , a-e “make a cake” and ai “snail in the rain”
REMEMBER:
- ai will never go at the end of a word!
- ay will normally go at the end of a word
Practise these spellings of your focus sounds and notice where the sound is in the word - don’t forget your dots and dashes!
1) snake 2) play 3) drain
Now write these sentence using your focus sounds:
- I like to play with my pet snake.
- My coin fell down the drain.

Today’s sound is: ‘or’ “shut the door”
This sound is tricky because there is actually more than one way to spell it!

Can you write this sentence:

Today’s focus sounds are “a-e” “make a cake” and “i-e” “nice smile”. Remember these are “chatty friend” sounds so they can’t sit next to each other in words, another sound sits between them to split them up. Say the sound and phrase and listen for the sound in the words.
Now practise these spellings with today’s focus sounds, don’t forget your dots and dashes!

Now write these sentences using these sounds:
1) My dad bakes the best vanilla and berry cupcakes.

This is a tricky sound because it has 3 special friends!

Religious Education
This term we will be learning about Hinduism in our religious education.
Hinduism is an ancient religion that originated in India. With your grown up go through the slides together and see how much you can remember about the Hindu religion. See how many gods you can remember! Can you try colouring them in using the colouring sheets - look on the internet to help you as they are very colourful!
After all that why not try some mid afternoon mindfulness with Mindful Monkey Happy Panda (ppt)
