Monday 18th May 2020

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a really fun weekend! Wasn't the weather glorious? I had a great weekend and did a lot of reading in the garden, but MUST remember my suncream this week as I very much resemble Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

PE: Today is another Just Dance Day! Let's have a dance off! Post your BEST video on the Padlet! I wonder who will win? Mrs Fetherston has got some great moves. But I've heard Mr Brown can spin on his head?

Maths: Can you have a go at the shape quiz below?

English: Today we are going to contiue our work on Beegu. Beegu visits the local primary school. Write a list of helpful tips as if she were joining Ramsgate Arts Primary School. E.g. what to bring to school, what our school day looks like, who are the important people etc.

Spelling: I know it's strange but we're a day behind due to the bank holidays but here are the words for today's spelling test: Remember, there are lots  of different ways to spell to 'j' sound.

a) judge
b) general
c) just
d) jumper
e) energy
f) edge
g) giraffe
h) January
i) urgent
j) splodge

Topic: Who have we learnt about so far? Recap the significant people, their names and their time periods and why they are significant. So far we have explored people who have been significant as they have provided us insight into the future and how to make changes to improve our lives over time. One person whose life made a big impact on thousands of people’s lives is Samuel Pepys. Samuel Pepys was born on the 23 February 1633. This all occurred hundreds of years before many of the other significant people we have studied were even born showing this in context on the timeline. This very ordinary man didn’t intentionally do anything incredible like NM or FN, but it was instead just him keeping a diary which helped us so much. SP lived in a time when there was a very significant fire in the city of London. The fire was very bad and ruined thousands of houses and buildings in London. SP diary was kept over time and historians, those who study history, have been able to use his diary to try to figure out exactly what happened and when. This useful primary source of information meant that people in the future, following the 1666 fire, were able to learn from the past.

The video below is something I watched when I was at primary school learning about Samuel Pepys, hopefully it will help you too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VarSSAwiimU
Recorded task: recreate an extract from SP diary using descriptive adjectives to express what happened and how SP felt (in first person).

Helping at Home: Can you help today by helping with the washing up?

Happy Monday! Love Miss R-B, Mrs Fetherston, Mr Brown and Charlie Fudge xxx
