24/03: Home Learning

Good morning, Team Amin! It's Tuesday!

Tasks for the day:

M: Addition yesterday, so subtraction today! Start with a speedy recap of your number bonds to 20. Then, practise your column subtraction. Ask an adult or go online for a reminder of the steps.

Don't forget to exchange carefully! Remember ‘borrowing’ is the old word for ‘exchanging’ and remember that you cannot take a greater value away from a smaller value!

Example questions:

a) 389 - 174 =

b) ______ = 3194 - 2176

c) 1913 - 629 =

d) _____ = 4000 - 2069

e) _____ = 3215 - 1767

Challenge: Find an adult and ask them to pose a worded subtraction question to you. Can you solve it?

Writing: Take a look at the writing challenge list. What takes your fancy? Today, I would like you to have a go at a writing task of your choice, but remember your basic punctuation and cursive handwriting! Maybe try the first story challenge! How are you going to get that duck and banana into the story?

T: Go onto BBC Bitesize and into KS2 Plants. Watch the first 3 videos about plants online. Make some notes as you watch like we would in the classroom to help you with your writing later in the week.

Extra activities:

R: Access the GG Powerpoint and listen along to Groosham Grange and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. Make sure you are reading every day! You might like to log the dates you read in your workbook on the back page? Think of it as a reading record like our pink book in school just for you.

TT: Practise your 6 times tables. (Use Hit the button, chanting, TTRS etc., whiteboard)

Help an adult: Find your adult in the house and ask them how you could help them today. Could you do some clothes folding? Wipe some surfaces? Water the plants? Feed a pet? Let's show our adults how helpful we can be.

Have a fantastic day. Happy learning! Don't forget to email me any work that you would like to show me.

Miss Amin :)
