Today in Topic, we learned about Nelson Mandela and his extraordinary contribution to ending racial discrimination in South Africa. Inspired by his message of equality for everyone, regardless of race, we created our own slogans to promote equality and diversity.
In Maths we have been sorting 2d shapes and making patterns with 2d shapes.
This week in our Significant People topic, we learned about Henri Matisse and then made some art inspired by his cut-outs.
This week we are looking at symmetry. We have been finding vertical lines of symmetry on 2d shapes by folding the shapes and by using mirrors.
What challenges will you complete?
Today we've been making 2d and 3d shapes. Below are 2 links to great resources were you can make virtual 2d shapes:

This week in maths we started a new topic - 2d and 3d shapes.
We discussed the things we need to do to work successfully together; taking turns, listening to each other's ideas and making sure everyone is included; and thought of examples when we had worked well with others.
We are looking forward to welcoming you all back tomorrow! We are looking forward to hearing about what you've done over the break.
Just some reminders:
Our PE days are Wednesdays and Fridays.
Love to learn wanted posters are due in by the 28th February.
For this term's home learning we're asking the children to create a 'Wanted' poster for a good friend. The template is in your child's Love to Learn book or if we didn't have their book we have sent the template home in their book bag today.
Last Friday was Number Day; a chance to highlight maths and the fun that can be had with numbers. We had a fantastic morning of activities where the children got to enjoy spending time in each of the KS1 classrooms. They used their number skills playing giant snakes and ladders, skittles, problem solving activities with counters and Numicon amongst other things.
