Simple Politics

On the first day of 'Oracy Week', we were learning about the basics of debating. We were visited by Tatton who runs the Instagram account, 'Simple Politics'. He taught us to have a successful debate, you need to listen to the other side and respond appropriately as well as be positive about your ideas rather than negative about your opponent's. We also need to be confident in what we are saying and back up our ideas with reasons. Finally, you can even predict what the opposition might say and try to get in first! It was a great workshop and we can't wait to put what we have learnt into practise tomorrow where we will be having a big class debate.
