As part of our unit on ‘Our Precious World’, year 6 ventured into Blean Woods for a field study. Each pair was equipped with a clipboard containing ‘scavenger hunt’ / ‘to spot’ sheets and a compass.

At regular intervals, we paused to discuss what we could see and hear as well as discussing the environment in terms of the setting in relation to our topic – biomes, habitats, climate and biodiversity. We also discussed the process of coppicing.

Despite the cold, the children seemed to really enjoy themselves and fully embraced the walking.
