Support with Transition
As our final term at RAPS is now in full swing, we do of course begin to turn our focus to the thorny issue of transition...
For some of our pupils, they have been with us for almost seven years - including time at the old site on Chilton's playground! However, as with almost all facets of life, change is approaching.
Nearly all of the children now know which secondary school they will be attending and so we will begin to ease worries and concerns about this next step.
Tomorrow, we have Fie Factory coming into school to deliver a session about transition. Hopefully, your child brought home today a data form for this session for you to sign - this is purely for them to receive further funding from KCC. This will hopefully build on the lesson we will be undertaking on class first thing tomorrow about common worries and fears ahead of the move to secondary school.
Finally, Miss Elliott has offered to run a 'drop-in' transition session one lunchtime a week. It will be held in the year 6 classroom and will run one lunchtime a week for the rest of the term. Children can pop in to discuss any worries, concerns or questions they have about the transition. I will confirm the day with Miss Elliott and then inform the children.
