Maths!

Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

Our maths is taught in 'steps'; each lesson is a different step and they build up to trickier learning. Our steps this week have been:

Step 1 - sort objects

Step 2 - Count objects

Step 3 - Count objects from a larger group

Step 4 - Represent objects

Step 5 - Recognise numerals as words

For each step we have stayed within 10, the children are really secure in their numbers to 10 now. As the word form of numbers follow no phonetic pattern whatsoever, that was a trickier lesson. Any reinforcing of this you could help with at home would be great; the children know that most of the words are 'red words' which means they cannot be sounded out; six and ten being the exception to this.
