Year 4 and the digestive system

Last week in Science...

In Science, we have been learning about the digestive system and what happens to food once it enters the human body. We simulated this by using a plastic bag with a weetabix to crush like the mouth would. Then, we poured orange juice into the bag to represent stomach acid and bile. Finally, we pushed the mixture through a pair of tights, aka the intestines, before squeezing out of the anus, aka the end of the tights.

The children found this to be a mixture of amazing and slightly disgusting.

To end the lesson, they acted out being the digestive system ! Have a look and see if you can spot which organs they are and which part of the digestive process is taking place.
