Coordinates in maths

Having spent quite a bit of time looking at fractions, weave now moved on to looking at coordinates...

For our first lesson, we stuck to just reading and plotting coordinates within the first quadrant; however, we shall be moving on to all four in the coming lessons.

The children have been reminded of the saying 'along the corridor, up the stairs' to remind them that the first number in the pair of coordinates refers to moving right along the x axis, before going up the y axis with the second number.

We applied our understanding of coordinates to questions without labelled scales (such as intoe picture alongside this blog post) and combined it with our knowledge of 2D shape too!
