English poetry
In our English this week, we have been reading the classic Ballad, 'The Lady of Shalott' by Alfred Tennyson and using it as inspiration...
Initially, we began by reading the poem through, one part at a time. Since it was written a long time ago, and uses some antiquated language, we talked through what was happening in each stanza.
Thinking about a period of our lives when, like the Lady of Shalott, we were trapped inside - during the Covid lockdowns - we then created our own poetry. We ensured that the rhyming structure and general focus of each verse followed the pattern from the original.
Hopefully, we shall publish these poems next week in class, so that we have a record of them in our Writing Journals.
