  • Library trip: request

    On Thursday 21st November, Year 2 will now be visiting our local library again in the afternoon. Please remember to send your child in with their library card and any books they want to exchange. 

    If you are able to join us for the walk and at the library, please let a team adult know! It would be very much appreciated.

    We are exploring strategies for addition in Year 2 this week! What a fun Maths lesson today using tens frames to make 10 to help us add before using our mental maths to check our answers! We loved moving onto tricky challenge questions and unpicking new styles of questions together too. Well done, Year 2!

  • Healthy Snacks

    A polite reminder that children should only have healthy snacks packed in their bags. The following are not acceptable as breaktime snacks: crisps, chocolate, brownies, sugar waffles and anything with nuts. Appropriate snacks include, fruit, vegetables, popcorn (not toffee) and cereal bars. Please note, we are trying to encourage healthy eating and any unhealthy snacks will be removed and given back to parents at the end of day. Fruit is provided in KS1 throughout the day. Thank you for your co-operation.

  • New Spellings!

    Please find attached this week's spelling homeworks. This term, there will be two spelling homework groups to support children as they transition through the RWInc and Hybrid groups. Each group's spelling words will focus on a mix of statutory words and tricky spellings we have noticed. Each Friday, the children will be given their sheet to take home and practise with and the following Friday, they can hand their spelling sheet to their teacher to collect house points. This has been explained to the children 🙂

    Our inspiration for Term 2’s Art to Start was Andy Goldsworthy! We explored his sculptures, discussing the materials he uses and the locations his art is found in. We now know Andy makes sculptures using natural materials in UK and around the world including in forests, fields or cities. We talked about our favourite pieces and why we preferred them, before leaving the classroom and trying to be like Andy Goldsworthy ourselves! Outside, we used natural materials such as stones, conkers, sticks, leaves and mud to create our own sculpture. Our sculptures included a classroom, a clock, flowers and spirals!
