Recently we have been learning about continents. The children loved listening to and practising these songs to help them remember the continent names, and some facts about them.

This term we have been exploring some of the different habitats around the world. Today we began looking the habitats that we find around us in Kent. We found out about woods, gardens and rock pools before creating our own rock pool art to display in the classroom.
This term our topic is Habitats as Homes! A science-based topic focussed on where animals live. We will study habitats both locally and world-wide. Therefore, our first Love to Learn project is to create a habitat in a shoebox. How imaginative can you make your habitat? Due Friday 14th October.

Year 2 are pleased to announce the return of shared reading with your child in school. This will take place on Thursdays from 2:45 until 3:00. We look forward to seeing you then!
This week we created some art inspired by Daniel Mackie, an illustrator who draws animal's habitats using pencil and watercolour inside the shape of the animal. We did this in groups using big sheets of paper and outlines of fish.
This term as we will be learning about how to present in front of others and ask questions as part of our Oracy lessons. This will be in the form of show and tell which will be on Thursday afternoons. We will have a house group each week to present. The groups will be as follows:

05.10.22 Malone (green)

The Year 2 Team
Well, here we are are the start of a new year! What a lovely day we had welcoming the children to their new classes and talking about all things Year 2. This Thursday (8th September) at 2:30 pm you will have the opportunity to come to our Welcome Meeting. Here we will discuss the Year ahead, what you can expect from us and how you can help support your child's learning. There will also be the opportunity to ask any questions you may have to the Year 2 team. We look forward to meeting you!

Team Gunson: Monday and Wednesday
Team Okai: Tuesday and Wednesday
Please can the children come to school in PE kits and with weather appropriate items such as hats or sunscreen if needed.
