We see them in clock faces, the names of monarchs, and on the spines of book volumes. However, many of us don't know how to read or write Roman Numerals. We noticed the similarities and differences between our base ten (arabic) number system and the Roman Numeral system of numbers.

The children were enthused by the learning and were keen to build their own hundred square using Roman Numerals. Some members of the class even undertook a lunchtime challenge to find out how to write the date in Roman Numerals.
