Emotive Music
We've been listening to Holst's Planets.
On Wednesday, we listened to a few pieces of music by Holst and drew how the music made us feel. We listened to Venus and Mars, we thought Venus was very calm - we drew happy things, people dancing and love hearts. When we listened to Mars we thought it was very angry, loud and 'fighty', we drew lots of big lines, volcanoes and lots of fire.
The children loved listening to the different pieces of music; we watched the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra play the pieces on YouTube and spoke about the conductor, the instruments and what a composer did. I'm sure the children would love to listen to these with you and would be keen to share their knowledge!
