Swing Dancing

The children learnt about the use of body percussion, used by slaves in the 1700s. Testing their rhythm, they were taught a simple sequence of beats before moving on to learn some steps for Charlestown dancing. After a short break, they moved onto partner dances and the swing music brought into the country during the war years of the 1940s. I urge you to get your child to try and show you the steps this evening!
