Neuro-diversity week
This last week at RAPS, was a special week, where we raised awareness of neuro-diversity - with a particular focus in year 6 on autism...
We began the week with a drumming workshop to represent echolalia - where some autistic people repeat questions or phrases back to people in order to buy themselves time, or ground themselves in the moment.
We watched a couple of videos and clips - including the BBC iPlayer programme, 'Inside Our Autistic Minds' - and read excerpts from two books, 'The Reason I Jump' and 'M is for Autism'.
On Wednesday, the class also participated in a 'Silent Disco'! Please ask your child about what they learnt this week, especially about what 'normal' really is!
