Trip to the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge

The children gained hands on experience with real victorian toys, like this Zoetrope. It shows animation in it's early stages which is something we are learning about with Mr Brown in art as part of another project we are working on.

We all had a great day in Canterbury at the wonderful Beaney House of Art and Knowledge where Team 's Aitken's understanding of  the history of toys and games was brought to life by the extensive display of exhibits and curiosities in the museum. We saw toys that dated back to ancient Egypt and Greece but our focus was toys and games from the Victorian period. We got to see and play with some real Victorian toys and also had the chance to play with replicas of popular games from the time. We even made our own clay marbles. Thank you very much to all the kind helpers who enabled the trip to go ahead and accompanied us on the trip!
