Daily Challenges: Wednesday 1st April
Our final post before the Easter break. We come back to challenges on Thursday 16th April...
Good morning Team Spurrier,
What amazing learning from yesterday! I am so glad you are enjoying Padlet. It is really brightening up my day interacting with you all and definitely inspired me to do some learning of my own.
Today is the last day of your challenges for the Easter holidays. We will be returning on Thursday 16th April. If you would like anymore learning for over the Easter period. Please click on the EYFS folder above the blog which we have filled with tonnes of resources. The password for this is: viking
Here are your challenges for home learning today:
Maths:
Starter: Counting to 100.

Challenge: Subtraction- to take away an amount. I know that when we subtract we take away an amount and the group gets smaller (less in it). Here is where counting backwards and knowing one less comes in handy. Go around the house and find some objects. How could you take them away? I started with 6 teddies but I gave three to mummy. How many do I have left? ….
Extention: Use the subtraction and equals symbol. Can you write the calculation to match in your yellow book?
Super challenge: Can you subtract by counting back? E.g. 5-3= I can hold up three fingers (keep it small) and count backwards from 5 until I get to the answer.
Games to play: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/subtraction-grids

further learning: Can you practise your numbers to 20 over the break? Do you know all of the numbers to 20 in and out of order. If I was to hold up the number 11, would you know what it was? You can challenge yourself to go past 20 if you are sure you know them all. I have attached the number formation cards to help remember the rhymes.

Miss Spurrier’s group- ay– may I play

Topic: There are a few different challenges today to keep you going for a while in Easter. They’re great fun and we’re sure you’ll enjoy them.
Challenge 1: Spring Art- Can you create a piece of spring art that can go in your window to brighten it up? You may want to pick some flowers and draw them or paint them or even do some printing with them to see what happens. What is your favourite flower and why? Can you name the parts of a flower? How does a flower grow? How does it start? Do you know any artists that use flowers as their inspiration that you could learn about?
Challenge 2: Love to Learn Reminder: Grow your own plant/flower/herb and document its growth journey. Can you sequence the events? What happened first? What happens next? What does a plant need to grow?
Challenge 3: P.E. challenge- See attached physical activity challenge from Mrs Horrigan. She says: If you have permission and can place yourself in a clear, safe area. Look at the sheet I have attached. See if you can do any of the medal challenges or even complete it. You could do this with your parents or with a sibling to make it extra fun. Also, If you would like you could send in a clip showing how awesome you are doing the activity bingo. She also suggests you could do the Joe wicks videos dressed up in a funny outfit and send them to us too! Good luck!
Challenge 4: A new skill- Lots of you have inspired me to start doing something new during this time at home. Can you learn a new skill over the Easter break? Dancing? Singing? Playing an instrument? A new language? Baking? Learn to make your bed? Help around the home? Learn a sport? Learn about something you like?
Challenge 5: Peer massage challenge- last week it was meant to be our peer massage morning at school. Can you give your grown up or sibling a massage using our peer massage moves? Put on some relaxing music and turn off the lines and enjoy. Can you remember what moves there are? There is bear walks, the butterfly, hairdresser, baker, eye glasses, love hearts, brush of the snow, cat hold, hand massage and many more. Send us your pictures and videos.
Challenge 6: Do you have any Easter traditions? I know it will be different this year but is there anything you can still do as a family? Do you have a special meal? Easter bunny? Any religious celebrations? What would you usually do at Easter? You may want to do some more Easter craft fun as I know a lot of you have enjoyed this. Maybe some Easter baking too?
Challenge 7: How many books can you read on Bug club in the break? We can track this online so I can see how many people are reading. Are you up for the challenge? How many can you read in one day? Week? Can you answer the questions to go with it. Reading is so important so please keep this up.
Challenge 8: There is a special Easter challenge coming out on the next blog post from Mr Budge and Mrs Beech so watch out for that soon.
You do not need to complete all of these. They are just fun ideas for you to do as a family. Make sure you take some time away from teaching and learning (it’s tiring isn’t it) but you’re all doing such a great job. Remember, if it doesn’t go your way today. Forget about it and do something fun as a family and come back to it another time. Don’t put pressure on yourself in this uncertain time.
