Home Learning, Thursday 23rd April

Please see below for Thursday's home learning.

Good morning everyone. I had a nice afternoon in school yesterday. I just managed to see Kingsley before he left and Archie was in during the afternoon. I also called quite a few of you at home, just to check you were ok. I hope to hear from a few more of you, that would be great. If any of you are in touch with other classmates who don't post on our Padlet page, give them a nudge for me!

Anyway, back to your learning for today.

Maths: Summer term, Week 2, Lesson 2, Lesson 2 - Subtracting decimals with the same number of decimal places

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/

As usual, watch the lesson and then have a go at the questions.

Reading: Finish the last few pages of chapter 3 of 'There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom' (attached).

English: IALT be able to write in role as a character inferring their thoughts and feelings.

Today I would like you to write a diary entry as Bradley talking about his day. To help, do the following things:

Think about the events of chapters 1-3.

Think about how you imagine Bradley would write. We know he lies a lot and perhaps we are starting to understand why this may be and why he acts the way he does.

Remember that this is first person (use I) and past tense. The audience is yourself (Bradley) which means it will be informal in tone (contractions, slang, asides in parenthesis such as brackets).

I have attached a Powerpoint to remind you of the features and give you your steps of success.

Topic: IK about mammal reproduction

To start new life, we need reproduction.  The suffix ‘re-’ means again and production means make. In mammals reproduction occurs when the sperm from a male meets with an egg from a female. The female them becomes pregnant with young. The length of time the animal is pregnant for depends on the type of animal it is. For a human this is 9 months, about 2 months for a dog, 11 months for a horse and 21 months for an elephant!

There are 3 different types of mammals: marsupials, placentals and monotremes. Humans are placental mammals.

The life cycle of a human has the following stages: fertilisation, growth of foetus in the womb, new born baby, toddler, child, teenager, adult, old age.

Today I would like you to create a human life cycle diagram with labels. Here is a video about the human life cycle.

Here is one way you could draw it:
