Daily Challenges: Thursday 21st May
It is thankful Thursday again... Who will you thank today?
Hi there Team Spurrier,
We are nearly at the end of the week again :) You are all doing so well and I hope you are getting out and enjoying some of the sunshine. I know I certainly am. I am so proud of all of your efforts. I think the Padlet may be playing up this week as it has been very quiet and I have had a few emails to say it isn't working. Please keep trying to post or maybe try to download the Padlet app? If not, I would still love to hear from you via email.
Today is thankful Thursday. Who/what are you thankful for? Take a few moments to either think or draw a picture to celebrate what you are thankful for during this time.
Here are your daily challenges:

Miss Spurrier has recorded herself going through the RWI set 1, 2 and 3 sounds. She is trying to rival Rosie on YouTube. There is no password.
RWI challenge: Can you record a short video joining in with the sounds and post it on the padlet?
Enjoy and let us know what you think :)

Maths:
Counting: Counting in 5s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amxVL9KUmq8
Challenge: To use subtraction to find the change when buying something for 10 or 20p.
Today we are buying something up to the value of 10p. If I wanted to buy a banana for 6p. How much change could I get? Use your subtraction knowledge to create a calculation and count back. For example. 10p-6p=4-. I would have 4p change.
Super challenge: Can you buy two things for under 10p and still get change? You then need to use your adding skills first and then your taking away skills. For example, if I wanted to buy an orange for 3p and a apple for 4p. This would be 3p+4p=7p then I would take my 7p away from my 10p that I have. 10p-7p=3p. I have 3p change.
Set up your own shop with items that cost less than 10p. What change do you get?
Topic
Theme: Reflection
Main: Isolation time capsule
As we come to nearer the end (hopefully) of the isolation period and some of us return to school on Monday 1st June. We thought it would be nice to make a time capsule of the time we spend. You might want to add a family photo, our school photo, favourite things (that you don’t mind not seeing),
Theme: Reflection Main: Isolation time capsule As we come to nearer the end (hopefully) of the isolation period and some of us potentially return to school on Monday 1st June. We thought it would be nice to make/start a time capsule of the time we spend. You might want to add a family photo, our school photo, favourite things (that you don’t mind not seeing), information about what you did in lock down. You may want to fill out the time capsule activity pack below. Put them all into a box or tub and maybe you might want to decorate this together as a family. Discuss as a family what you enjoyed about the isolation. What did you get to do in this time? What did you miss? What are you looking forward to after we return to normal life? Is there anything you are going to take forward as a family? I know there will definitely be some changes in my life for the positive and I have really learnt to love my own time and space and appreciate the beautiful place we love. REMINDER MRS HORRIGAN'S P.E. CHALLENGE:
TIMES TABLE SQUATS - Thought I would challenge both your mind and body for this weeks activity. I am really interested in how you get on with this one.
SOCKS IN A BOX - How many socks can you put in a box, I am sure your parents would love you to help with those unpaired cleaned socks, turn it into a game (socks in a box) and have a go.
FIGURE OF EIGHT - How can you make it more challenging?
AIR BALLOON - If you don't have a balloon use something else, but find something that is light in weight, tissue paper, use your imagination.
Let us know how you get on!!! Post it on the Padlet :)
Don't forget to use the class Padlet and post some funny things to your friends. Please remember to put your name in the comments and on your post as they all show up as ‘anonymous’. It is very secure as I have to approve all posts and comments that come through. PADLET NOW HAS A PASSWORD: rapshome You can post as many times as you like!
