RE

I am learning to find out about Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr
Muslims all over the world celebrate the festival of Ramadan. Ramadan is a period when Muslims fast for a month.

Time to think: Do you know what fasting is?

During Ramadan, fasting for Muslims means going without food or drink from dawn to sunset for a whole month. Muslims fast to show self-control and it helps them appreciate all that they have and take time to think about those less fortunate than them.

Muslims believes fasting helps them focus more on their God - Allah.

This video will explain a bit more about what Ramadan is for Muslims:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/23286976

Now go to the pdf  What do Muslims Celebrate Slide4 to read more about Ramadan and afterwards can you think of 3 things you would find hard to give up during a fast..write them in your book!

After the hard work of fasting, Muslims have a big celebration. This is called Eid-al-Fitr'
(or Eid) . Muslims come together with their families and have lots of delicious food to eat. They will exchange presents and wear smart new clothes! Go to What do Muslims Celebrate Slide5 to find out more about Eid.

Then have a look at this video to see two young Muslim boys explain how they celebrate the end of fasting at Eid!
