Watch out for the Dinosaurs!!!
What did we find out about our new topic?
This week in Team Spurrier we started our learning about dinosaurs. We learnt that they lived on planet earth a long, long time ago, before humans. We had a joke about how lucky we were that they didn't live with us now. We learnt a new word... Extinct... and we enjoyed using this throughout the week. We looked at how different the land looked when dinosaurs lived on it (no houses, roads, cars etc) and we discussed and described our favourite dinosaurs. This was a really good opportunity for talk and we learnt how to describe something based on its appearance. We then transferred this skill into our writing too. We also learnt that dinosaurs all lived in different habitats, just like animals now and we made enclosures for our dinosaurs. We also learnt that some dinosaurs ate meat (carnivores) and some ate plants (herbivores). We compared this to humans and discussed how this was the same as meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans. We have really been enjoying the dinosaurs learning so far and cannot wait to continue next week. Watch out for a letter about a very special dinosaur visitor coming to the school very soon!
