Art to Start

Ask us about Andy Warhol and Pop art...

Today in Team Spurrier we created our Art to Start pieces linked to an Artist. We chose to Study Andy Warhol as the contrasting colours reminded us of colours that the Superheroes use in their costumes and pop out words. We looked at some of his famous pieces of work including Maralyn Monroe and the Soup Can. We learnt that he used to print so he could create an image multiple times and that he used to highlight features in bright colours. We needed to make sure that the colours clashed so that it would really make the image POP and stand out. To do this we used a colour wheel and picked colours that were oposite each other to really get that clashing effect. We had several art options to choose from such as printing with our hands, making patterns and collages with everyday objects and creating a large scale print with flowers. We really understood this and produced some amazing independent work. Miss Spurrier and Miss Merry were SO impressed.
