Good morning Team Gunson. Did any of you manage to get out in the sunshine yesterday? I was in school helping to sort out the classrooms with Mr Beraet and Mrs Horrigan.

You will start with a quiz to test your knowledge. Then we will have a video lesson followed by a worksheet. We will end with a final quiz to test what you now know.

English: IALT plan a science fiction story

So far we have looked at the features of SF stories, read some really good examples in our reading comprehensions and looked at describing different settings that we may find in this genre of writing. Today I am going to ask you to plan your own science fiction story.  Think about that they need:

  • To take place in space or in the future
  • People who go on a journey
  • Aliens or species from different planets or worlds
  • Unusual fantasy settings
  • Super weapons and tekkie gadgets

I have attached a planning template to help. This takes you through the differnt parts of your story and gives you plenty of things to think about that will make it a true science fiction adventure!

Topic: IK: facts about the planets in the solar system.

After finding out the names and order of the planets in the solar system yesterday I would today like you to make a fact file about each of the planets.

https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/solar-system/our-solar-system/overview/

Here is a great site from NASA about our solar system. There is a page for each planet giving you lots of facts. Think about what facts you could include about each planet. You may want to give details of its size, colour, the length of its days and years. There are lots of things you could include, the more interesting and wacky the better!

Sandra, as you went a bit ahead yesterday could you prepare a fact file for me about famous animals in space?
