Home Learning, Monday 29th June

Happy Monday Team Gunson. I hope that you all had a good weekend. Here is your suggested learning for today.

PE: Have a look through our Viking Isolation Games blog post. This week the games are Karate and Canoe Slalom. Look at the videos to give you some ideas then get on it! Send your videos or pictures to Mrs Horrigan at the email address on the blog.

Mental Maths: All aboard the mental maths train. This multiplication activity will test your tables knowledge using lots of different vocabulary associated with multiplication. You can choose a table to focus on or choose mixed tables if you are already secure in your tables knowledge.

Maths: Monday is arithmetic day. Try the test attached in 40 minutes. After you have marked it, remember to take the questions that you found challenging and try to work out where you went wrong.

Maths Challenge: Your challenge arithmetic paper covers Year 6 objectives as well as Year 5. Good luck!

English: IK the features of a persuasive advert

We have looked at persuasion many times in Key Stage 2. Today we are going to recap the features of a persuasive advert. Adverts are designed to make us think, do or buy something and they use a variety of devices to do this.

Firstly, have a look through the powerpoint I have attached to remind yourself of some of the features.

Next I have attached a text advertising a hotel.Read carefully through it then answer the questions that come after it. There are two levels of challenge in the questions, 1 star and 3 stars; make sure you choose the text that will stretch your learning.

Topic: Today I would like you to research the dietary needs of astronauts and find out about what they eat.

I would then like you to create a series of menus for an astronaut. You can create a menu for a day or even a week. You will need to think out what you have learned and balance an astronauts dietary needs with what kind of fod could be taken into space; for example keeping food fresh and the weight of the food.
