Monday's maths - 22/6/20
Later this week we will be looking at compass directions and making turns. Before we can do this, we need to remind ourselves quickly about right angles...
We can use right angles to help us make turns, but they can also be found in some shapes. When talking about the properties of shapes, we often talk about the number of sides or corners. The size of a 'corner' is often referred to as an angle - and we have looked previously at right angles, acute (smaller than 90 degrees) and obtuse angles (bigger than a right angle). Today I want you to see if you can find right angles INSIDE shapes. Look at the lines that make a corner on a shape, and making sure you look on the inside of the shape, decide if it is a right angle!
Attached is a right angle finder to try to help you - though you can use / make your own (corner of a ruler, book etc).
