22/04/2020: Home Learning
GOOD MORNING!
It’s Wednesday and I am up nice and early in school today! I need to water our plants and do some teaching and learning too! Also, I’ve finished Groosham Grange - it is up online!
Learning for today:
PE: I think today is a Joe Wicks’ workout kind of day. Alternatively, you could check out Mrs Horrigan’s PE challenge (scroll down in the blog)!
French: Practise your French: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/z39d7ty OR check out Mrs Ivan's French video on Padlet.
M: Start with a speedy recap of your 11x. You can do this with a dice game if you have dice, on TTRS, Hit the Button, or you could practise chanting like we do in school?
We are going revisit rounding to the nearest 100 this morning! I find rounding tricky, but as long as I remember that I need to underline the tens and ones and circle the hundreds… I should be fine!
Take a look at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx-XKcgKqzc
For rounding to the nearest 100, remember: 50 or more = UP 49 or less = DOWN
e.g. 134 = 1) Underline 34 2) Circle 1
3) 1 = 1 hundred = 100 and my next hundred up is 2 hundreds = 200
BUT underlining the 34 tells me I am going down to the nearest hundred so…… 100!
e.g. 68= 1) Underline 68 2) Circle nothing! I have no hundreds!
3) 0 hundreds = 0 and my next hundred up is 1 hundred = 100
BUT underlining the 68 tells me I am going up to the nearest hundred so…… 100!
PRACTICE: Round to the nearest 100:
- 327 b) 173 c) 95 d) 412 e) 591 f) 3146 g) 1908 h) 4085
E: Listen to the story so far: Powerpoint is in the Home Learning section and attached below!
Journal entry: What has happened over the past few days for you? Have you done any exciting learning? Are you excited about our new core text? What do you think it is going to be about? What are you most looking forward too after lockdown ends? Have you helped out at home?
RWInc: Can you make Mrs Fox's sentences WOW sentences? I think you can!
RE: Refresh! Read through notes/remind yourself about BUDDHISM (Buddha, Vesak, Ploughing Festival, Loy Krathong).
Today, we are learning about the festival of Songkran! Take a look at the slides (Slide 5) about attached below.
TASK: Parinirvana is a ‘perfect world’ that words cannot describe. Your task today is ART based. Create your own image of a ‘perfect world’. What sorts of colours and images might you use? How might you show a world full of peace, happiness, calm and all things good?
Extra activities:
R: Access the GG Powerpoint and listen along to Groosham Grange. THE WHOLE STORY IS UP!
Spelling: Practise this week’s spelling in time to test yourself this Friday!
Happy learning! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures/upload to Padlet! I miss you all !
