27/04/2020: Home Learning
The start of a new week
Good morning, Team Amin! I hope we have all had a lovely weekend! I caved to the trend and had another crack at making some banana (and walnut) bread! It was very tasty!
Learning for today:
PE: Either find a safe space (garden?) and do 10 jumping jacks, 10 squats and 10 bunny hops or do Joe Wicks’ workout. Will you do BOTH?! Or will you have a crack at Mrs H's newest PE challenge?
M: Start with a speedy recap of your 3x and 6x. You can do this with a dice game if you have dice, on TTRS, Hit the Button, or you could practise chanting like we do in school?
This week, we are going to revisit addition and subtraction worded problems! I am attaching a sheet below with addition 1 step questions to work through today. If you need a reminder for addition steps:

Don't forget that 'carrying' is the old word for 'regrouping'.
E: Start with practising this week’s spelling words (T5W3). Then, go into your Home Learning, Reading section and have a listen to Clockwork (I have added more to the Powerpoint).
Revisit the description of Dr K. As you listen draw a picture of Dr K as he is described. I have attached picture of the specific pages below too which your adult could read instead (What did he look like… a glass of brandy).
TASK: Now, today, you are going to write your own description of Dr Kalmenius! The book’s description is not realllllyyyyy detailed or scary. How can you make him sound…. more interesting?! Could you include a simile, alliteration, apostrophes for plural possession? What can you hear as he walks? How tall is he? What is his skin like? Is he old or young? Challenge: include the word ‘prominent’.
Done? Now DRAW your version of Dr K!
RWInc: Today, you are looking at adjectives and adverbs!
TOPIC: We are starting a new Topic this term which is all about rainforests! As always, we will be starting our Topic with an Art to Start. SO: Take a look at the pictures attached below or Google ‘Henri Rousseau’ or ‘Henri Rousseau KS2 art’. Today, I would like you to paint/draw your own rainforest picture inspired by the post-impressionist art work of the French painter, Henri Rousseau. Post your final piece to Padlet. Below you will also find a little info Powerpoint and here is a video about the artist: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/art-and-design-ks2-henri-rousseaus-surprised/zrdyd6f
Extra activities:
R: Access the GG Powerpoint and listen along to Groosham Grange and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. You might also like to listen to ‘Rainforest Calling’ which I have put in the Home Learning section.
Spelling: Practise this week’s spelling in time to test yourself this Friday!
Help around the house?: Ask your adult if there is anything you can do to make their day better!
Have a great Monday. Happy learning! Don’t forget to send me emails/pictures/upload to Padlet!
