07/05/2020: Home Learning
Good morning, Team Amin. What a wonderful week we are having so far
What a fabulous week we are having so far! I have either been in contact with many of you via email, seen your wonderful posts on Padlet or spent time with you at school. But yesterday was definitely my favourite day so far this week! I saw lots of pictures of fabulous learning and of you (I love seeing photos of Team Amin), listened to some amazing poems and music and then, to top it off, I got a lovely video message from Meghan in the evening! Though I admit that made me cry, and then cry some more thinking about your faces and how far we have all come since the end of March, I'm so proud of all of you. I know this is hard, I've struggled too and I know some of Team Amin have messaged when they have felt upset, but we really are all here for each other and it is ok for some days not to be as great as others. Yesterday, however, was a smashing day for me I think! Stay safe, Team Amin, and keep smiling! Miss Amin xxx
PS: Happy learning for today! Don’t forget to send me lots more emails/pictures/VIDEOS/upload to Padlet!
Learning for today
PE: I think today is a Yoga day?
M: Start with a speedy recap of your 9x. You can do this with a dice game if you have dice, Hit the Button, or you could practise chanting like we do in school?
We are going to revisit Distributive Law for multiplication again today! I’m so glad some of us are catching on from what I have heard from you but DON’T PANIC if not, let’s practise again today! Take a look at the Powerpoint from yesterday again to remind yourself!.
Though done back to front to how I would teach you, this might be also useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GRARGFHNuc
Today, I have attached learning sheets. I would suggest trying the 1 or 2 star unless you're feeling super confident. It is perfectly fine if you’re not sure of this method, but have a go! Don’t forget, if we always taught you things you knew, we wouldn’t be teaching you at all!
E: Start with practising this week’s spelling words (T5W3). Then, go into your Home Learning, Reading section and have a listen to the story so far if you haven’t caught up yet/for a reminder. You can also find the book in picture form online too now :)
TASK: Today, we are going to do some drama again. You can either have a go at some acting and create your own role play or write a play script for it instead. You are reimagining any of the scenes between Florian steadily becoming ill and Otto taking him to Dr K. How will you show the emotion? Who will you include in the scene? Mariposa? Onlookers? The Baron? The physician? How will you use show not tell?
DRAMA: Create your own role play. Think carefully about pace, volume and expression.
If you would prefer to create play script, remember to include your title, scene name and number and punctuation.
Alternatively, you might use this time to catch up on the class readers! and write a little summary of what you have listened to.
RWInc: Please find the relevant spellings and text attached below too for Hole in Hill with today’s learning task :)
TOPIC: Today, we are going to explore the Amazon! Start with a recap of your learning so far (types, weather and climate, layers, animals, fun facts). Take a look at your notes too if you have made them. Attached is the Powerpoint, aid (should you want it) and info sheets for the Amazon and Sherwood forest.
Task: Create your own tour/travel brochure for either the Amazon or Sherwood. Could you use one piece of paper and bend it into 3 to make an actual brochure? What headings and subheadings might you include? (Size, Location, Inhabitants). You could use the info sheets as information but, if you’re up for it, you could do your own research and produce a unique piece too! When you're done, you'll need to add colour to make your brochure visually appealing! Remember, you WANT people to want to visit!
A possible video that might be enjoyed (I LOVED IT, I HAD NO IDEA THIS FROG EXISTED!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAQPSHvNB4A
Extra activities:
French: Practise your French: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/z39d7ty
R: Access the GG Powerpoint and listen along to The Diamond Brothers and/or read a chapter of a book of your choice. I have now FINISHED reading The French Confection and am hoping to upload the next story in a few day!
Spelling: Practise this week’s spelling in time to test yourself tomorrow!
