Good morning Team Barnes!
We hope you had a lovely weekend enjoying the beautiful sunshine (don't forget to wear sun cream or sun hats!). We understand some of you are finding the home learning challenges a bit of a struggle now we have been doing this for quite some time. That's ok, even us adults have days where we find our 'home learning' a struggle too. Just do what you feel is manageable for you and your family.
Remember we are here to help in any way we can during this strange time, please do not hesitate to email us if there is anything you are unsure of. We love hearing from you no matter what :)
Thank you to those of you who have sent their rainbow photos so far. Remember it is a picture of you (in your school uniform if you'd like) holding a rainbow. we will put them together and make our class photo for the year and remember the times we did have together. Please can I have these ASAP by email or on the Padlet. Spread the news to everyone as I don't want anyone to miss out.

RWI:
Miss Spurrier’s group- ow- blow the snow.
Words for spelling: bow, mow, grow.
Sentence: We can grow a seed.
Miss Taft’s group- ng- thing on a string.
Words for blending: thing, ping, ring.
Spelling: ring, ping, sing.
Sentence: I can sing.
Mrs Barnes’ group- ear- what can you hear?
Words for spelling: hear, fear, disappear.
Sentence: I can hear the singing in the class.
Miss Merry’s group- er- A better letter
Words for spelling: better, letter, shelter.
Sentence: I post letters for my family.
Please record in yellow book. -Two lines of handwriting of the sound with finger spaces, three spellings with the sound in and record the sentence with a capital letter and full stop. I have attached a photo of how you may want to lay the home learning out in your yellow book.

Do you get a bit stuck on those tricky red words? Well look no further, Miss Spurrier has recorded herself going through the typical red words we cover in reception. Check out the video and see how many red words you know!
Maths:
Counting: Count to 20 against the clock challenge forwards and back. Can you do it in under one minute? Can you write the numbers too?
Challenge: Today we are learning about odd and even numbers. Watch the odd Todd and even Steven song below (warning: It’s catchy). They live on separate sides of the road. Even numbers on one side and odd on the other. This is the same for most of the streets where we live. Can you take a walk down your road and spot which side is odd and which is even? Can you challenge yourself to spot a pattern (it misses one number each time). Can you count in odds and then evens? What do you notice about counting in evens? (counting by 2’s) Make a number out of anything you like, teddies, lego, pasta, pom poms and count it out. If you can put the number into pairs without there being one left over then the number is even. If there is one left without a partner then the number is odd. Use the numicon cut outs below to circle the pairs and put onto the odd or even side.

Theme: Growth
Main: Minibeasts- Moving like a mini beast. Watch the videos on the power point or look in your garden for them. How do they move? What is the same or different? Can you move like a worm? Butterfly? Is it slow? or fast?
Bug hotel- Go back to the bug hotel you made last week. Is there anything you could add to it? Have you got any mini beasts in there? If so, what? How could you make it even better.
Crafts- Have a look at the mini beast craft pack. Have a go at following the instructions. What is an instruction? What comes first? What is next? What comes after?

Martyn Harvey Poetry Competition
Hi Everyone,
The finale of our lock down writing competition and we have a treat for you today! Today's poem is called the 'Spider' and Martyn will explore his inspiration for the poem, the poem and of course, some illustration work. A competition video will be arriving on your blogs shortly, not only announcing the competition, but also with some rather funny out-takes.
Martyn's poems have really inspired me to get into those darker places, observe the fauna which are hiding there, going about their daily business, and write about them. I really hope that it has inspired you to to the same! Enjoy..

PE challenge
Hi RAPS,
How have you been getting on with the challenges set for you?, I haven't heard from anyone 😞😩, are you still out there 👀?. Did any of you from KS2 manage to remember the noughts and cross's game?
This week I have set some activities for you to do, but try and keep up or continue with the circuit training that I had sent you previously.
TIMES TABLE SQUATS - Thought I would challenge both your mind and body for this weeks activity. I am really interested in how you get on with this one.
SOCKS IN A BOX - How many socks can you put in a box, I am sure your parents would love you to help with those unpaired cleaned socks, turn it into a game (socks in a box) and have a go.
FIGURE OF EIGHT - How can you make it more challenging?
AIR BALLOON - If you don't have a balloon use something else, but find something that is light in weight, tissue paper, use your imagination. Let me know how you get on.
