Cooking Next Week

Next week, linking to our topic learning on Mexico, year 6 will be heading to Royal Harbour to learn how to cook...

The wonderful Mike Spackman will teach the pupils about food hygiene, preparation skills and share his recipes for various Mexican dishes. Each day, we will make a number of dishes in groups, before coming together to taste and try them all.

At the end of Thursday's session, the children will select their favourite dishes and create a menu to feed parents and carers on Friday. Parents and carers are welcome to attend the feast at Royal Harbour on Friday at 12:30. Please feel free to bring a container to take away any of the food that is left over. You may also take the children home straight from Royal Harbour after the 'feast'.

As well as learning life skills and cuisine linked to our topic, this is another excellent transition opportunity as pupils get to see life and lessons at a local secondary school.

On some days, we are at Royal Harbourfor the morning and some in the afternoon, but please always ensure the children start the day for registration at RAPS.

Monday - 9-12

Tuesday - 1-3

Wednesday - 1-3

Thursday - 9-12

Friday - 9 -12 (feast for parents at 12:30)

Because of the walking there and back each day, please ensure your child has comfortable footwear (this can include trainers).

Obviously, participation in these sessions (and with other fun activities for the remainder of the term) will be dependent upon good behaviour.
